Happy Turkey Day...A Couple of Days Late!

I know it's a couple of days late, but Happy Thanksgiving! It's been a while since I've touched this blog but since I have some down time, here goes. (That's what happens when it's Christmas time at your job and your life is put on hold for several weeks until Christmas is over!) I have to say that I was looking forward to 4 days off for some time now, and now that there is only 1 day left, which I am thankful for, I can't help but to now turn my attention to the time off I will have starting on December 24th, I think. What a joy it'll be to have more than a week off!

But for now, I focus on Thanksgiving. Thursday, we spent the day with Matt's family, watching football and eating good food. The things on my plate consisted of meatballs, fried chicken, bread, macaroni and cheese, and baked beans and hot dogs. We enjoyed our time there but ended early so that those wanting to catch the Black Friday sales (not me) could get up early and hit the stores!

Matt set out early on Friday morning and found some good deals...he's looking forward to his golf clubs arriving! He also picked up the softest, fluffiest blanket...mmmm, so nice.

After shopping, we headed down to Mooresville to spend some time with my family at my brother's house. Again, we enjoyed good food and family time. We played with play-dough and watched The Polar Express on Friday night. I also had to get new tires, so we took care of that. Saturday we lounged around in our pjs and played with more new toys. (It's my nephew's birthday.) Before we headed out on the road, we stopped at a little cafe with lots of scrumptious sweets for lunch. It was at this point that Matt
had decided that he would try and teach me how to "trash talk" to my older brother who continuously picked on me for my "slow" driving. At a few points over our visit, I had to follow my brother to get to places. I am a cautious driver and he works for NASCAR. Need I say more? I don't think we went the speed limit at any point in time. What's a speed limit? Throw that in along with unfamiliar roads and you've got perfect grounds for someone to start picking on his baby sister :) But it's ok, in time he will get his...well, if Matt's a good teacher that is!

And tonight we are back home, one more day to enjoy with family before hitting it hard for the next couple of weeks. Although I am certainly not looking forward to returning to work, I am thankful that I have a job. We are truly blessed and are grateful for all that we have, big and small. To wrap it up, here are 2 little lists of some of the things that I am thankful for (in no particular order):

The Big:

1.) My future husband
2.) My family & friends
3.) My health
4.) My home
5.) Clothing & Food in plenty
6.) My job
7.) My Lord (who has provided all of the above and so much more!) and that
He loves me so much more than I can comprehend!

The Little:

1.) Charlie Brown specials on TV
2.) Christmas music/decorations
3.) Pajamas!
4.) Ice Cream
5.) The invention of basketball
6.) A pillow to lay my head down on at night
7.) Warm chocolate chip cookies and milk

Often it is so easy to overlook those things that we have everyday, things that we take for granted and don't think about, but things that are true blessings in our lives. This thanksgiving, I am trying to concentrate on those things that I take for granted. The things like food, clothing and shelter that are essential to life, but that not everyone has. Things like my good health, that all of a sudden could fail one day, yet, in reality, I live life like that can't happen to me right now. Thank you Jesus for providing all I need and more. I am certainly rich and truly blessed!
