We Are the Champions
This afternoon we played in our flag football tournament. Coming off of an undefeated season, we anticipated making it all the way to the end. Our first game went off with ease, the girls taking over on the field to add mega points to our lead. The second game (we sat this one out) was a bit more intense as bodies made more contact and sportmanship took a dive. It was hard to say who we would want to play against in the final; both teams were pretty good, but somewhat obnoxious when it came down to being verbal. If we played againts the yellow team, we would probably get an easier victory just simply playing the game of football. But, against the orange team, it would be a sweeter victory to put some egos in check. As fate would have it, the orange team won their game which sealed the deal for us. Again, we met this team in the finals and of course both sides had something to prove. But the orange team just didn't have enough to pull from to get the win. The score was tight but we pulled away with a female touchdown (9 points for these) and held on to the end. How sweet this victory was! We had a great time playing and the only sad part is that the season has now officially come to a close.
After the game, we kept our ritual alive (well, it's been a ritual for 3 weeks now) and went to dinner at Char-grill with some teammates. Next week, perhaps a team cookout to hand out the awards, but that is yet to be determined. For now, we'll just keep practicing and looking forward to next year when we'll start again.
