Summer Recap

Since I seem to have a hard time keeping up to date with this blog thing and summer is drawing to a close, I decided that I'd do a "summer recap" post about everything I wanted to blog about, but never did :)
So here goes.

1.) Matt and Dad's Birthday Celebration - (Matt's birthday is July 12 and my Dad's birthday is July 11 so we had a joint dinner on July 10 at my parent's house.)

Strawberry Shortcake for my dad & White Cupcakes for my husband

2.) Deeper Still Conference-Greensboro, NC - Deeper Still is a woman's conference done by Beth Moore's Living Proof Ministries. This weekend was an incredible weekend of teaching and getting deeper into God's word. There were 3 amazing speakers, Kay Arthur, Priscilla Shirer and Beth Moore. We learned much and had a great girls weekend. I highly recommend it for you ladies out there that want to go deeper.

3.) Scott-Evans Annual Family Reunion-Raleigh, NC - every July 4th, Matt's family has a reunion that consists of a lot of people. And when I say a lot, I mean a lot. It's a weekend filled with games, updates, swimming, food and fellowship. This year it was held at the Crabtree Inn and was super fun as always.

4.) Greg's 30th Birthday-Mooresville, NC - My sister-in-law threw my brother a surprise party for his 30th birthday. The consensus is that he had some idea about something going on but it was still a great time. Many of his friends joined other family members to celebrate with good food and a little bit of roasting. The weather was great for enjoying their awesome backyard and there was a surprise visit from my Aunt, Uncle and cousin from Massachusetts.

Greg's Arrival (yes, his car is parked on the lawn)

Surprise!

Time for roasting and gag gifts...

5.) Journey Indoor Soccer Tournament-Wake Forest, NC - On August 15th, Journey had the 1st Annual (hopefully) Journey Soccer Tournament at the Factory in Wake Forest. This was a super fun time to get together with other people from church and kick around the soccer ball, indoor style. To say that Journey doesn't have soccer talent is a huge understatement! We had a wide variety of ages playing, from high school to who knows...we all had a blast, the teams were pretty competitive and I think we all did pretty well considering we've never played together. It was a great event and hopefully one that will come around again. Although next time I think I'll try to be in a little better shape. Paying the price for days later was not so fun!

6.) Rockin Summer Nights-Journey Youth-Raleigh, NC - In the middle of August, we had a youth event that lasted for a week. Each night there was a different activity for the youth at Journey plus a message brought strong by Smooth, the youth pastor. The kids enjoyed Suvivor Night, bowling, a scavenger hunt, a cookout and a worship night and at the end of the week, there was a giveaway for an ipod touch! It was a great time and the kids seemed to have truly enjoyed themselves.

Love to see students worshipping

iPod Touch giveaway - yea Paula!

7.) Durham Bulls Game-Durham, NC - Recently we were able to go see a Durham Bulls game with a co-worker of Matt's. It was really fun but the game was very long. The best part of the night was the food deal they were running...$1 hotdogs, popcorn and fries! (Isn't it sad that our bottles of water cost as much as our meals?) Anyways, it was a great date and only cost us $20! Too bad they are done for the season.
Until next year...
