Listening for His Voice

I find no irony in the fact that what I read this morning in my quiet time directly correlated to what I heard at Journey on Sunday. I don't believe there is a such a thing called coincidence. I call it God. He must be trying to teach me something about the topic of hearing His voice in the midst of the chaos all around.

Here is what I read this morning:

"Save your best striving for seeking My face. I am constantly communicating with you. To find Me and hear My voice, you must seek Me above all else. Anything that you desire more than Me becomes an idol. When you are determined to get your own way, you blot Me out of your consciousness. Instead of single-mindedly pursuing some goal, talk with Me about it. Let the Light of My Presence shine on this pursuit, so that you can see it from My perspective. If the goal fits into My plans for you, I will help you reach it. If it is contrary to My will for you, I will gradually change the desire of your heart. Seek Me first and foremost; then the rest of your life will fall into place, piece by piece."

March 8, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young

I'm sure that those of you who attend Journey and have already heard the first message in our current series can relate to this and appreciate it as it correlates with the Word spoken on Sunday. How true it is that we need to seek Jesus first and foremost! There are so many people I know who are struggling with life because He isn't a priority. If only they would get to a place where they would believe this to be the truth! Life wouldn't be perfect, but things would fall into place so much easier! Even in the midst of trials, even in the midst of what seems like silence, God is at work. He is speaking. He is present. He is active.

If you get a chance, check out Sunday's message here. The team at Journey will post the audio and video as soon as it's available. It's week one in the series called "The Pursuit".

Stacy! I got Jesus Calling for Christmas and I'm reading it too! That's awesome! I love your insight and it's amazing to see how God is teaching us the same things! :-)
