Two for a Few Dollars
Where does the time go? Doesn't it seem that as an adult, time starts moving much quicker than when we were kids? I cannot believe it's been two years since Matt and I married. It really seems like yesterday. I can still feel myself getting giddy with excitement when I hear of single friends approaching their wedding day, because it reminds me of the excitement of our wedding day.
Over the weekend, Matt surprised me with these:
We made these delicious little treats:
Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cupcakes, some filled with more PB frosting and some with Chocolate Ganache. Yum.
On Monday, Matt surprised me by taking the day off to celebrate our second Anniversary. Not only did we have the whole day to spend together, we also spent less than $10 on our celebration!
Here's what we did:
After quiet times, we picked up breakfast at Great Harvest Bread Company and then headed out to Duke Gardens:
After the gardens, we headed over to the Southpoint Mall Cinemas with a gift card, courtesy of BCBSNC. $20 was enough for two tickets and kiddy combo to share! This is what we saw:
We were the only ones in this showing and we laughed our booties off!
After the movie, we headed back to Raleigh to shower up and clean up before dinner. We've started a sort of tradition to eat at Il Palio in The Sienna Hotel in Chapel Hill on our anniversary. Except this year, thanks to the Student Ministry at Journey, we had a gift certificate to use. And the best part? Well, there might be more than one. Dessert (gelato) was FREE because it was our anniversary AND there's money left over for us to enjoy another meal there in the future!
After dinner, we headed home and pulled out our wedding dvd that my Uncle David put together for us. What sweet memories to be able to watch over and over. Getting to re-live our perfect wedding day was a great way to end our evening. As we were reminded of how awesome a day it was, we were also reminded of the vows we promised each other and how much our family and friends mean to us. And that sort of reminder is good, isn't it?
Oh, and no anniversary celebration would be complete without something of the red velvet kind.
Since a cake topper wasn't an option this year, Matt found this:
And yes, for those keeping track, we did eat ice cream while watching our video, even though we already had gelato at dinner. But it's ok...it's only once a year that an anniversary comes around to celebrate!
