He popped the question!!!!
Sunday, April 20 started out like any normal Sunday. We had to help with the youth at church at 9am and then we were going to get something to eat with my family before we had to be back at church for a student leader meeting. Youth went well as usual and we had fun playing games and learning how to be more Christ-like in our everyday lives. After the service was over, we met up with my family (my whole family) and Matt's parents who had come to church. Again, nothing unusual because they had visited before. We were all going out to lunch so we headed over to Gianni and Gaitano's at Triangle Town Center. It opened at 11am so by the time we got in there and ordered I was really stressing about being back at church at 12 for the meeting. Last thing I wanted to do was be late. Matt didn't seemed too worried and said it would be alright. So we ordered and ate and had a good time. When we were done and Matt and I were getting ready to leave, he said he needed to use the restroom before we headed out. Little did I know that was the "clue" for everyone else that when he came back, he would ask the best question I would ever hear. Almost everyone at the table had been in on this get together which Matt had been planning for some time. Weeks ago he asked permission from my parents and he had the ring for a week prior to asking. He can keep a good secret! As soon as he started talking to me and telling me that he loved me and couldn't imagine his life without me, I knew where it was going! He asked me to marry him and I said YES! Looking back I knew he was getting more serious about settling down and I wondered why he gave me such a hard time about what I was going to wear to church that morning. I was just going to youth, why couldn't I wear gym pants? (I'm glad he talked me out of that!) He did an awesome job and asking with our families there was so sweet. I actually had a dream a while ago that we had gotten engaged and that it was in front of our families. Well, he took that dream and made it a reality for me and I didn't know it would be so soon. Everyone was super excited, the cameras and camcorders came out as soon as he started talking and there were plenty of tears shed. Happy ones of course! I could NOT believe it. And we didn't have to get back to the meeting. Paul knew something was going on. It was AWESOME. We took some pictures outside to commemorate the special day and then went back to Journey to tell some people. All day was surreal to me. My mom bought a stack of wedding magazines to look through which is pretty fun too. It was an incredible day; so neat that our families were in on it and that they were all around to share in that time. We couldn't be happier and more excited about our new adventure!!! And I still can't believe it!
